How to Install Vertical Blinds

Sprucing up your home is easier than you think. Putting up blinds on your windows and doors are not only decorative, but practical as well. For instance, vertical blinds can put accent on your windows and sliding doors provide privacy for your home. They have the elegance of drapes, but are easier to clean. Plus you can install vertical blinds yourself in few easy steps:
  • To successfully install vertical blinds, you have to measure your door or window accurately. Use steel tape measure for best results. Measure each window individually and measure from left to right.

  • For inside-mounted blinds, measure at the top, middle, and bottom width of the window recess; use the smallest measurement for your order. For outside-mounted blinds, measure the top of the window frame and add 100mm to each side for the width. You do not have to add to the height measurement.

  • You can buy your blinds online if you’re in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, or NSW. Just send in the measurements and choose the colours for your vertical blinds.
  • When your blinds arrive, check to see if the package is complete. It should include the screws you will need to attach the blinds.

  • Use a pencil to mark the spot where you will drill in the holes to attach the brackets for the blinds. Attach the screws through the brackets, then snap the headrail on the brackets.
  • Pull the cord on the blinds to evenly space the vanes. One by one, push the vanes up until it latches on the cord.
Once all the vanes are attached, pat yourself on the back for a job well-done. You do not have to be a handyman to install your vertical blinds. Online stores can even deliver the blinds right at your doorstep if you are in Sydney, Melbournes, Canderra, or NSW area. All you have to do is measure, order and install, then you can enjoy your vertical blinds right away.

Unify your Space with Blinds

Window treatments don't have to match, but they have to be color related. It's usually best to keep materials in the same color family to avoid sudden jarring contrast.

In a given room, use various accents to define and anchor different color groupings that can highlight your windows. You can vary the colors intensity as desired with your window dressing.

Color scheming is easy with blinds as long as you plan ahead. Know which color should predominate a room, as blinds can add and filter to the brightness of colors as blinds are very good in controlling light exposure. Blinds can pull living areas together, making color schemes blend and materials work together without competing visually.
